Fattoria La Maliosa 'Tarconte' 2020 is a Sangiovese selection from volcanic ground in a notably hot, dry season. Temperatures remained very high between June and September, and the lack of rain produced an exceptionally dry summer. At this site, however, the volcanic soils helped the vines avoid particular stress, and the producer reported high-quality fruit. Harvest began in the middle of September, with rigorous hand selection determining what entered the cellar. The resulting wine combines the vintage's ripe fruit character with a fresh structural line, expressing a different side of Maremma from its better-known clay-based vineyards.

Ripe cherry, blackberry and plum provide a generous aromatic centre. Violet and withered rose bring a floral layer, followed by clove, pepper and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine is structured yet fresh, with dense, smooth tannins giving it both presence and composure. The closing impression remains fresh and firmly structured; that contrast with ripe fruit makes it well suited to a substantial meal. Metodo Corino farming emphasises plant-based regeneration, soil care and vine longevity. Gentle crushing is followed by local-yeast fermentation, periodic punching down and four weeks of maceration. The wine then spends about thirty-six months in wooden barrels without added cellar additives. This extended, patient process gives 'Tarconte' its own place within La Maliosa's range: a focused Sangiovese shaped by volcanic terrain and time.
