Vintage Character The 2023 Love by Léoube Rosé comes from a Provence year of shifting pressures rather than a simple run of sunshine. An exceptionally dry winter delayed budburst and reduced exposure to late frost, but rain in May and June raised disease pressure after easing the threat of water stress. Strong July heat then produced uneven rates of ripening across the region. The earliest Côtes de Provence sectors began harvest around 20 August, with growers choosing picking dates parcel by parcel. For rosé, the grapes had to hold fruit flavour, acidity and pale colour in balance, so freshness here is an achievement of selection and timing.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing Love by Léoube is an organic Côtes de Provence rosé conceived for convivial drinking. The producer's 2023 listing describes a pale wine with red fruit, citrus, white peach and berries, from Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, at 12.5% alcohol. A rounded fruit centre leads toward a crisp, dry finish rather than a heavy or sweet impression. Chilled to around 9 to 12 degrees, it suits octopus salad, grilled prawns, lemon-thyme chicken or an aperitif beside olives and almonds. The 750 ml bottle offers a more intimate table setting than the 2020 and 2021 magnums in this range, but the style remains easy-going and food-friendly.
Winery Background Château Léoube is based at Bormes-les-Mimosas on the Mediterranean, with organic vineyards and an established range of rosé, white and red wines. Romain Ott devised the Love line as a generous expression of Provence. The estate's coastal position provides a distinctive setting, while its emphasis on gentle fruit handling aligns with the region's pursuit of aromatic clarity in rosé. The wine brings that coastal identity into an especially accessible register: ripe fruit, freshness and a direct invitation to share food, in a style meant to be enjoyed young.
