Vintage Character Meursault 2020 from Domaine Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is a refined white Burgundy that marries the appellation’s natural generosity with the domaine’s trademark tension and precision. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy is widely regarded as excellent, shaped by a warm, dry growing season that produced ripe, concentrated grapes while, in the best cellars, retaining bright acidity and a clear expression of terroir.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing Aromas of lemon zest, ripe pear, green apple, white peach and delicate white blossom sit over a core of cool, stony citrus fruit, with subtle hints of hazelnut and buttered brioche. The palate is focused and mineral, medium-full in body with medium-high acidity, creamy texture from lees ageing and a long, saline, nut-tinged finish. It is a versatile gastronomic wine that shines with roast chicken, seared scallops, grilled turbot with beurre blanc or a simple plate of Comté or aged Gruyère.
Winery Background Founded in 2005 by Pierre-Yves Colin and his wife Caroline Morey, Domaine Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has quickly become one of the benchmark names for terroir-driven white Burgundy. Drawing on deep family roots in the Côte de Beaune – Pierre-Yves is the eldest son of Marc Colin – he has pursued a minimalist, precision-focused style, favouring meticulous viticulture, careful fruit selection and low-intervention winemaking. The whites are typically barrel-fermented and aged on their lees in larger-format oak with very limited bâtonnage, alongside practices such as cold settling and restrained use of new wood, all aimed at preserving tension, minerality and site expression. This philosophy, applied to a relatively small-production Meursault cuvée sourced from selected village parcels, has helped make these wines highly sought after by collectors and Burgundy lovers around the world.
