Genki Motoki Koshu 2025
Vintage Character
Hailing from Japan's premier Katsunuma sub-region in Yamanashi, the 2025 Genki Motoki Koshu showcases the crystalline purity of the region's signature white grape. The 2025 growing season in Yamanashi benefited from moderate summer rainfall and cool autumn nights, allowing the grapes to achieve balanced physiological ripeness while preserving their vibrant natural acidity. Grown on well-drained volcanic soils at the foot of Mount Fuji, the vineyards benefit from high diurnal temperature shifts that foster intense aromatic complexity and a distinct mineral tension.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Elegant and remarkably fresh, this white wine opens with delicate aromas of yuzu, sudachi, green apple, and wet slate, accented by subtle hints of white pepper. On the palate, a laser-like acidity is beautifully balanced by a gentle, textural weight derived from extended sur lie aging, leading to a clean, mouthwatering finish defined by a saline minerality. It pairs exquisitely with traditional Japanese sashimi, pan-seared sea bass with lemon-herb butter, or a fresh goat cheese and arugula salad.
Winery Background
Founded with a vision to express the pure, ethereal qualities of Japanese terroir, the boutique project of winemaker Genki Motoki champions a philosophy of minimal intervention. In the cellar, Motoki employs precise temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation followed by lees aging to enhance the wine's mid-palate texture without masking the fruit. This dedication to precision and natural harmony makes this artisanal Koshu a compelling, benchmark expression of modern Japanese winemaking.
