Meursault “Les Narvaux” 2020 from Domaine Ballot-Millot et Fils is a refined, terroir-focused white Burgundy drawn from one of the village’s best-known higher-sited lieux-dits, situated on poor, rocky soils above many of Meursault’s premier crus and naturally giving a tighter, more mineral profile than many richer village parcels. The 2020 growing season in Burgundy was warm and generally dry, producing a highly regarded vintage that delivered ripe, concentrated fruit balanced by freshness, thanks in part to cool nights and careful picking dates.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
In the glass, this wine opens with lemon zest, ripe pear, white peach and green apple, layered with white flowers and a delicate touch of hazelnut and almond. The palate is medium to full-bodied with vibrant, medium-high acidity, a creamy lees-derived texture, and subtle oak nuances of brioche, fresh butter, toast and vanilla, leading to a long, precise finish marked by chalky, stony minerality and hints of honey and toasted nuts as it evolves in bottle. It is an excellent match for roast chicken with morels, pan-seared scallops, buttery turbot, or a simple plate of Comté or aged Gruyère.
