Meursault “Les Narvaux” 2020 from Domaine Ballot-Millot et Fils is a refined, terroir-focused white Burgundy drawn from one of the village’s best-known higher-sited lieux-dits, situated on poor, rocky soils above many of Meursault’s premier crus and naturally giving a tighter, more mineral profile than many richer village parcels. The 2020 growing season in Burgundy was warm and generally dry, producing a highly regarded vintage that delivered ripe, concentrated fruit balanced by freshness, thanks in part to cool nights and careful picking dates.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
In the glass, this wine opens with lemon zest, ripe pear, white peach and green apple, layered with white flowers and a delicate touch of hazelnut and almond. The palate is medium to full-bodied with vibrant, medium-high acidity, a creamy lees-derived texture, and subtle oak nuances of brioche, fresh butter, toast and vanilla, leading to a long, precise finish marked by chalky, stony minerality and hints of honey and toasted nuts as it evolves in bottle. It is an excellent match for roast chicken with morels, pan-seared scallops, buttery turbot, or a simple plate of Comté or aged Gruyère.

Rooted in Meursault for generations, the Ballot family merged holdings through marriage with the Millot family in the late 20th century, and today Domaine Ballot-Millot is regarded as one of the appellation’s most precise, terroir-driven white wine producers under the guidance of Charles Ballot. The domaine farms prime parcels across Meursault and neighboring villages and has progressively modernised its approach while remaining respectful of tradition, emphasizing careful vineyard work with an increasingly organic mindset, restricted yields, and thoughtful, minimally interventionist winemaking. In the cellar, fermentation and élevage in mostly used oak with a restrained proportion of new barrels, extended lees aging without excess bâtonnage, and harvest dates chosen to capture tension and purity all serve a clear goal: to let each climat speak for itself. Sites like Les Narvaux, with its relatively poor, stony soils and exposed slope, are particularly well suited to this philosophy, yielding wines that combine Meursault’s famed texture with striking minerality, definition and aging potential.
