Clos Venturi 'Altare' Blanc 2023
Vintage Character
From the rugged interior of the Corse AOC, the 2023 Clos Venturi 'Altare' Blanc beautifully showcases the estate's high-altitude terroir. The 2023 vintage benefited from warm summer days tempered by cool mountain night breezes, allowing the Vermentinu grapes to ripen gradually while retaining their hallmark acidity. Grown on steep sandstone and granite soils in the mountainous Ponte-Leccia region, this unique parcel yields a white wine of distinct mineral character and structural tension.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
This exceptional white wine opens with vibrant aromas of lemon zest, white peach, and wild white flowers, layered with striking sea spray and crushed stone minerality. On the palate, a textural richness from fine lees aging is balanced by a saline, mouthwatering finish that leaves a lasting impression of Corsica's wild maquis. Pair this complex dry white with grilled octopus drizzled with lemon juice or pan-seared sea bass served with ginger-scallion oil.
Winery Background
Winemaker Manu Venturi leads the estate with a deep commitment to biodynamic farming and indigenous Corsican grape varieties. Clos Venturi, located in the mountainous heart of the island, stands out as one of the few producers cultivating vines at such dramatic altitudes. By employing natural yeasts and minimal intervention in the cellar, Venturi crafts benchmark wines that authentically express this wild, high-altitude landscape.
