In the ocean-facing Cassis appellation of Provence, the 2021 Clos Sainte Magdeleine Cassis Blanc 'Cuvée Bel-Arme' showcases the remarkable tension of a cooler growing season. Severe spring frosts across southern France drastically reduced yields, but the surviving old-vine fruit developed extraordinary concentration and brilliant, bracing acidity. Grown on steep, sun-drenched limestone terraces directly overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, these ancient marine-fossil soils impart a distinctive, jodized salinity and chalky structure to the grapes.

This highly limited cuvée opens with vibrant aromas of Meyer lemon, white peach, wild garrigue, and crushed oyster shells. On the palate, a delicate, creamy texture from lees aging in concrete eggs is beautifully balanced by a persistent, saline-driven finish. Crafted from the estate's oldest vines planted in the 1970s, the Cuvée Bel-Arme is vinified with minimal intervention to let the coastal terroir speak clearly.
