Domaine Pascal Chassagne-Montrachet 2023
Vintage Character
Domaine Pascal Chassagne-Montrachet 2023 is a village-level white Burgundy from the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation in the Côte de Beaune, crafted from Chardonnay. The 2023 vintage in Burgundy is widely regarded as generous and successful, with a warm growing season balanced by enough freshness to deliver ripe fruit without sacrificing tension. In Chassagne-Montrachet, clay-limestone soils and the appellation’s subtly varied exposures help shape whites that marry breadth with a firm mineral spine, giving this wine its hallmark combination of stone-fruit depth and chalky precision.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
On the nose, expect lemon zest, ripe pear, white flowers and orchard fruit, backed by hints of hazelnut, fresh butter and wet stone. The palate is dry and medium- to full-bodied, with lively acidity, a supple, layered texture and a persistent finish that leans citrusy, saline and gently creamy rather than overtly oaky. It is a classic match for roast chicken with morels, grilled sole with beurre blanc, or sushi and sashimi, where the wine’s brightness and mineral cut complement both richness and delicacy.
Winery Background
Domaine Jean-Luc et Paul Pascal is a family estate based in Puligny-Montrachet, with vineyards across several prized Côte de Beaune appellations and a long-standing reputation for polished, terroir-led white Burgundy. The Pascal family is known for sustainable, hands-on vineyard work and careful fruit selection, aiming to preserve clarity of site over winemaking flash. In the cellar, the approach is traditionally Burgundian: gentle pressing, measured élevage and discreet oak influence designed to support, not mask, Chardonnay’s natural purity. That combination of modest scale, local knowledge and stylistic restraint makes the domaine especially appealing to drinkers who value authenticity over excess.
