Vintage Character The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 'Les Nosroyes' was made after a warm, dry Burgundy summer, when timely rain helped vines through drought before a healthy September harvest. April frost threatened some sites, but later budburst reduced damage in parts of the region. This year gives Chardonnay generous fruit and a rounded palate, but Les Nosroyes has a well-drained clay-limestone position at Puligny's northern foot, just below the Premier Cru Les Perrières. That geography offers a firm line beneath the vintage's breadth. Pear fruit shows sooner than in the cooler 2021, while the chalky finish remains the signature. Vinous scored it 91 to 93.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing Pear, white fruit, gentle spice and a subtle wood note define the domaine's description of this wine, at 13% alcohol. In 2022 ripe apple and peach broaden the bouquet; a little air brings out the spice without making the wine seem overtly oaky. The mouthfeel is expansive, then energised by acidity and a mineral finish. Grilled lobster, roast chicken or creamy mushroom pasta accompany its richer middle while leaving the final chalky note visible. Serve cool, allowing a slight rise in temperature in the glass. Its pleasure is a sequence: welcoming fruit, a fuller Chardonnay texture and finally the clean, persistent line.
Winery Background The Génot-Boulanger family founded its Meursault domaine in 1974 and developed an extensive range of Burgundy lieux-dits. Aude and Guillaume Lavollée now guide the estate, whose vineyards have held organic certification since the 2018 vintage. Les Nosroyes takes its name from an old word for a place planted with walnut trees. The Chardonnay parcel covers 1.13 hectares under Les Perrières, on draining clay-limestone soil. The fruit is hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed and fermented in oak, then matured in barrel and steel. Though village-ranked, the wine has a distinct origin and a generous but fresh style in the producer's range.
