Oremus was founded in its modern form in 1993, when the Álvarez family of Vega Sicilia acquired the estate and committed to restoring Tokaj’s historic prestige through meticulous vineyard and cellar work. The estate works prime Tokaj vineyards, harvests by hand in multiple passes, and treats Eszencia with exceptional patience: the free-run nectar ferments extremely slowly, often over years, before long maturation in the cellars. This fusion of traditional Tokaj methods with Vega Sicilia’s exacting standards makes Oremus a benchmark producer, and Eszencia its most rare and mesmerizing expression.
