Post & Beam Chardonnay Napa Valley 2023
Vintage Character
Post & Beam Chardonnay Napa Valley 2023 is a premium Napa Valley Chardonnay sourced from vineyards across the appellation, crafted in a classic California style that balances ripeness with freshness. The 2023 growing season in Napa Valley was notably long and even, with a cool start and extended hang time that helped preserve acidity while allowing full flavor development, making it a particularly strong vintage for vibrant, well-defined Chardonnay. Napa’s mix of valley-floor and benchland sites, abundant sunshine, and cooling marine influence gives the wine both generous fruit and a polished structural line.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
The nose opens with ripe apple, pear, lemon curd and white flowers, followed by subtle vanilla, toast and a light brioche note. On the palate it is dry, medium- to full-bodied, and creamy without heaviness, with layered orchard fruit, citrus zest and a gentle mineral edge carried by balanced acidity into a smooth, almond-tinged finish. This is an easy wine to enjoy at the table: pair it with roast chicken with herbs, lobster risotto, or miso-glazed black cod.
Winery Background
Post & Beam is part of the Far Niente family, created to express the fundamentals of Napa Valley winemaking through a more stripped-back, heritage-minded lens. The brand takes its name from traditional post-and-beam construction, a nod to structure, craftsmanship, and durability, and the wines aim for clarity rather than excess. Fruit is harvested to retain natural balance, and the Chardonnay is made in a style that typically includes barrel fermentation and aging in French oak, lending texture and understated spice while keeping the focus on varietal purity. That combination of trusted Napa pedigree and accessible classicism is what makes Post & Beam such a dependable choice.
