Vintage Character Devo MV04 Brut Nature NV is a traditional-method sparkling wine from the Yinchuan area of Helan Mountain East in Ningxia, China. The blend is 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, with 82% of the wine from the 2022 harvest and 18% reserve wine from 2018 to 2021. It is fermented in bottle, aged on lees for at least 24 months and released with zero dosage, giving it a precise, bone-dry style.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing The wine opens with red apple, lemon peel and stone-fruit aromas, followed by biscuit and toasted brioche from its lees ageing. The palate is dry, fresh and finely textured, with bright acidity and a clean, persistent finish. Its combination of citrus lift, orchard fruit and savoury autolytic notes makes it a strong match for oysters, fried seafood or roast chicken.
Winery Background Devo began its sparkling-wine project in 2012 and is regarded as China’s first independent producer dedicated to traditional-method sparkling wine. Its vineyards sit near the 1,200-metre contour in the rocky Jinshan area of Ningxia, where the estate grows Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and pioneering commercial plantings of Pinot Meunier. The project is led by winemaker Jin Gang, professor at Ningxia University’s Food and Wine College. MV04 received 92 points at the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards, the highest score awarded to a Chinese sparkling wine that year.
