Casa E. di Mirafiore Alta Langa 'Diavoletto' 2018
Vintage Character
The 2018 vintage in Piedmont’s Alta Langa DOCG was characterized by a mild spring followed by a hot, dry summer, which contributed to grapes with excellent ripeness and vibrant acidity—an ideal foundation for traditional method sparkling wines.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Awarded 91 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Mirafiore Alta Langa Diavoletto 2018 offers an expressive bouquet of crisp green apple, citrus blossom, and subtle brioche. On the palate, fine bubbles carry flavors of white peach, lemon zest, and toasted almond, balanced by a creamy texture and a lingering mineral finish. This sparkling wine’s structure and finesse make it a perfect match for classic pairings such as oysters, smoked salmon, or aged goat cheese, while its clarity and lift also complement lightly spiced Sichuan-style shrimp, adding a touch of international flair to its versatility.
Winery Background
Casa E. di Mirafiore, established in 1878 by Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri, Count of Mirafiore, stands as a historic pillar in Piedmontese winemaking. The estate’s vineyards are situated in the heart of the Langhe hills, where calcareous soils and sustainable viticultural practices—including minimal intervention and organic treatments—underscore their dedication to authenticity. Mirafiore’s sparkling wines are crafted using the traditional method, with extended lees aging and careful selection of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes to ensure purity and complexity. Their ongoing commitment to expressing the unique terroir of Alta Langa, combined with a legacy of innovation and respect for tradition, continues to set Mirafiore apart as a benchmark producer in the region.
