The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was a cool, frost-affected year with a challenging growing season: severe spring frosts and a relatively mild summer reduced yields but preserved bright acidity and a classical, red-fruited profile in many reds, including this wine. In the glass, this Pinot Noir offers lifted aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis and cranberry, framed by rose petal, violet and a subtle blood-orange zest. The palate is medium to full-bodied yet poised, with high, mouth-watering acidity, silky but persistent medium-high tannins and a fine thread of earthy, mineral depth; oak is beautifully integrated, adding clove, vanilla pod, light toast and a hint of cocoa and savory spice. Notes of sous-bois, dried rose, truffle and a touch of game suggest impressive aging potential, leading to a long, refined finish, and it makes a superb partner for roast pigeon, herb-crusted rack of lamb, or a simple plate of duck breast with cherry jus.
