Château Gruaud‑Larose Saint‑Julien Grand Cru Classé 1990 is a Cabernet Sauvignon‑dominant blend with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, grown on the deep gravel soils that define the Saint‑Julien appellation. The 1990 vintage in Bordeaux is remembered as one of the greatest of the late 20th century, marked by a warm, dry summer and ideal harvest conditions that produced wines of great concentration, ripe tannins, and remarkable balance.

In the glass, this wine reveals aromas of cassis, blackberry, and black cherry, layered with cedar, tobacco, graphite, and hints of leather and truffle that have developed with age. Its 82 hectares of vineyards are planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot adding suppleness and aromatic complexity. Founded in the 18th century, the château has long been recognized for producing wines of both power and refinement, often described as “the king of Saint‑Julien” for their ability to combine structure with elegance.
