Château Clinet Pomerol 2019 is a Pomerol shaped by a demanding summer and a carefully timed harvest. Wet conditions earlier in the year were followed by a hot, dry summer, with the estate's clay-rich setting helping buffer the vines against water stress. Rain on 22 September preceded Merlot picking from the twenty-third to the twenty-seventh; Cabernet Sauvignon followed on 3 October. The blend contains 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Those conditions support an interpretation centred on ripe, generous fruit, while the later Cabernet contribution and a fresh finish keep the wine from becoming simply plush.

Strawberry, sour cherry, blueberry and cassis combine with pastry-like notes and spice. The palate has a creamy, rounded surface over fine tannins, moving toward chocolate-toned depth and an energetic finish. Roast duck, beef fillet with mushrooms or a savoury mushroom pie would complement its texture. The dishes need not be heavy: clean flavours and moderate richness allow the wine's fruit to remain distinct. Time in the glass can make the contrast between its supple Merlot centre and firmer structural details easier to follow, while bottle development can add a more savoury dimension.

Clinet's vineyard history reaches back to the sixteenth century. The Laborde family acquired the estate in 1999, and Ronan Laborde took charge in 2004. Fruit from the 2019 harvest was handled parcel by parcel and fermented in stainless steel. Gentle manual punch-downs helped shape the extraction. Barrel maturation was planned for over sixteen months, with 75% new oak. This combination of careful parcel handling and barrel ageing complements the ripe Merlot core, while allowing the Cabernet Sauvignon to contribute definition and a more persistent structural outline.
