Domaine Launay-Horiot Pommard ‘Les Chaponnières’ Premier Cru 2019 is a focused, refined expression of one of Pommard’s most respected premiers crus, combining depth with precise Burgundy elegance. The 2019 vintage in Burgundy is widely regarded as excellent, with a warm, relatively dry growing season delivering ripe, concentrated fruit while retaining freshness, resulting in wines that marry intensity with clarity and lift.

In the glass, this Pinot Noir reveals aromas of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry and violets, layered with subtle redcurrant and hints of cranberry. The medium-full palate is driven by medium-high acidity and finely knit, medium-high tannins, offering juicy red fruit wrapped in fine-grained oak spice, clove, vanilla and a touch of toast, which then evolves toward savory forest herb and earth. Developing nuances of dried cherry, underbrush, leather and truffle add complexity, supported by a firm mineral spine and a long, poised finish. It is a superb partner for roast duck, herb-crusted lamb, wild mushroom risotto or a simple roast chicken with thyme.
