Domaine Pierre-Henri Rougeot Pommard "Rue au Port" 2020 is a Village lieu-dit Pinot Noir from the Pommard appellation in the Côte de Beaune. The 2020 Burgundy growing season was warm and dry, producing small berries and naturally concentrated fruit, so this is a notably strong vintage in which Pommard’s structure is matched by impressive ripeness. Rue au Port is a named site within Pommard, where the appellation’s clay- and iron-influenced soils help give the wine its customary depth, firmness, and earthy mineral edge.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
The wine opens with black cherry, damson, wild raspberry, violet and peony, followed by subtle spice, woodland notes and a faint iron-like savoriness. On the palate it is medium- to full-bodied, with lively acidity, fine but assertive tannins, and a core of dark red fruit that carries into a long, gently stony finish. Its shape makes it especially appealing with duck breast, roast pork loin with herbs, or mushroom risotto.

Pierre-Henri Rougeot returned to his family’s Meursault estate after harvest experience abroad and has become closely associated with a low-intervention, terroir-focused style of Burgundy. Farming is organic in spirit and informed by biodynamic principles, with hand-harvesting and a strong preference for transparent, minimally manipulated wines. Under his own label, he has also explored sulfur-free or very low-sulfur vinification, while keeping the precision expected of a serious Côte d’Or grower; that combination of classic site expression and natural-wine energy is what makes these small-production bottlings so distinctive.
