Chapoutier Saint-Joseph "Le Clos" is a Sélection Parcellaire bottling from the Saint-Joseph AOP in the northern Rhône, made from Syrah grown on a famed enclosed site above Tournon-sur-Rhône. The 2022 vintage was shaped by a warm, dry growing season, and in the northern Rhône that translated into ripe fruit, depth and supple tannins, making it a notably strong year for concentrated yet balanced reds. Its identity is rooted in steep granitic slopes, where poor soils and exposed hillside conditions give Saint-Joseph a distinctive mix of dark-fruited intensity, peppery lift and stony freshness.

The wine opens with blackberry, cassis and blueberry layered with crushed violet, black pepper, smoked meat and a subtle graphite note. On the palate it is full-bodied and structured, with dense black fruit, savory olive tones and a firm granite-driven line that keeps the texture precise rather than heavy; the finish is long, spicy and mineral. This is a Saint-Joseph of real authority, combining power with clarity of site. It pairs beautifully with herb-crusted lamb rack, duck breast with a red wine reduction, or chargrilled portobello mushrooms.
