The 2023 vintage in the southern Rhône is widely regarded as strong, with warmth tempered by enough freshness to deliver ripe fruit without heaviness. Coudoulet’s distinctive identity comes from its galets roulés over clay and limestone soils, the same heat-retaining stones that help produce depth, generosity and the savory garrigue character associated with this corner of the Rhône Valley.

In the glass, this red shows ripe blackberry, black cherry and raspberry layered with thyme, lavender, pepper, licorice and a subtle meaty note. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, supple yet structured, with polished tannins, juicy dark fruit, a thread of spice and a long, stony finish that keeps it lifted and food-friendly. It pairs especially well with herb-roasted lamb, duck breast with olives, or grilled lamb skewers.
