Paul Granier 'Les Lignières' Grenache 2022
Vintage Character
Paul Granier 'Les Lignières' Grenache from the Vin de France appellation in the Languedoc-Roussillon is a beautiful showcase of the 2022 vintage. The 2022 growing season in Southern France was marked by a hot and dry summer, which yielded small, highly concentrated berries with excellent structural depth and rich fruit expression. Grown on the distinctive clay-limestone soils of 'Les Lignières', the vines benefit from a warm Mediterranean climate tempered by cool evening breezes, allowing the Grenache grapes to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness while retaining vital freshness and minerality.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Without a formal critic score, this artisanal bottling speaks entirely for itself, offering a lively and pure expression of the grape. On the nose, it opens with vibrant aromas of wild strawberry, black cherry, and crushed raspberry, accented by notes of garrigue and white pepper. The medium-to-full-bodied palate is wonderfully textured, showing supple tannins and a juicy, mineral-driven finish. Pair this expressive red with classic French duck confit, grilled rosemary lamb chops, or a slow-braised Chinese red-cooked pork belly.
Winery Background
Paul Granier is a small-scale, passion-driven estate in the South of France dedicated to raw, minimal-intervention viticulture. Winemaker Paul Granier practices organic farming, harvesting the low-yielding parcels by hand to protect the fruit's integrity. In the cellar, his philosophy is strictly hands-off: fermentations rely entirely on native yeasts, extraction is kept gentle, and aging is done with minimal sulfur additions to craft an authentic, unfiltered, and deeply expressive representation of the terroir.
