Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 'Les Frémiets' Premier Cru 2022
Vintage Character
The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was characterized by a warm, dry growing season, which led to wines showing vivid fruit concentration, supple tannins, and remarkable balance.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 'Les Frémiets' Premier Cru, awarded an impressive 93 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, exemplifies the finesse and depth of this celebrated terroir on the border between Volnay and Pommard. Aromas of wild raspberry, rose petal, and subtle forest floor emerge on the nose, while the palate unfolds with silky layers of red cherry, cranberry, and delicate spice. The wine’s texture is refined yet persistent, supported by fine-grained tannins and a mineral-driven finish that lingers elegantly. Its versatility makes it an excellent companion to herb-roasted chicken, seared duck breast, or a classic Comté cheese, each pairing highlighting the wine’s nuanced aromatics and graceful structure.
Winery Background
Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is widely recognized as a benchmark producer in Volnay, with a heritage rooted in family stewardship and a steadfast commitment to authenticity. The estate practices organic viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking, allowing the unique character of its vineyards to shine through in every bottle. The Frémiets Premier Cru vineyard, situated on limestone-rich soils at the eastern edge of Volnay near Pommard, imparts distinctive minerality and precision to the wine. Marquis d'Angerville’s dedication to tradition and transparency has established it as a beacon for Burgundy enthusiasts seeking wines that eloquently express their origin and terroir.
