Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru 2014
Vintage Character
The 2014 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru is a refined and perfumed Burgundy that balances elegance with structure in a cooler, classically styled vintage. The 2014 season in Burgundy was shaped by a mild spring, a mixed summer, and a fine September that allowed Pinot Noir to ripen with freshness and aromatic purity. This Grand Cru reveals aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and blackberry, lifted by floral notes, spice, and earthy minerality.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
On the palate, it is medium‑bodied with silky tannins, lively acidity, and a long, mineral‑driven finish that emphasizes finesse over sheer power. Its balance and aromatic lift make it a superb partner for dishes such as roast duck with five‑spice, mushroom risotto, or aged Comté cheese, offering a wine that combines delicacy with depth and the promise of graceful evolution.
Winery Background
Domaine des Lambrays is one of Burgundy’s most historic estates, centered on the Clos des Lambrays, an 8.7‑hectare Grand Cru monopole in Morey‑Saint‑Denis. The vineyard’s varied slopes and exposures contribute to the complexity and nuance of the wine, which is often described as combining the perfume of Chambolle with the structure of Gevrey. The domaine traces its origins back to the 14th century and was revitalized in the late 20th century, gaining recognition as one of the Côte de Nuits’ most important properties. In 2014, the estate was acquired by LVMH, bringing further investment and a renewed focus on precision viticulture and winemaking. Practicing organic methods, careful parcel selection, and élevage in French oak, Domaine des Lambrays crafts wines that express both the power and elegance of their terroir. The 2014 vintage highlights the estate’s ability to produce wines of freshness, aromatic purity, and long aging potential, reinforcing its reputation as a benchmark of Morey‑Saint‑Denis.
