Maison Fang Savigny lès Beaune Cuvée Linéaire 2021
Vintage Character
The 2021 Savigny lès Beaune Cuvée Linéaire from Maison Fang highlights a challenging yet classically styled Burgundy vintage. Severe spring frosts in 2021 dramatically reduced yields across the region, resulting in a cooler growing season that yielded wines of remarkable freshness, vibrant acidity, and traditional elegance. Sourced from choice clay-limestone parcels within the Savigny lès Beaune appellation, this Pinot Noir benefits from the valley's distinct microclimate, where cool breezes preserve bright fruit acidity while the mineral-rich soils impart a defined structural backbone.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
No Wine Advocate score is available for this micro-production, but its purity speaks for itself. The wine opens with vibrant aromas of fresh red cherry, wild raspberry, and violet petals, underpinned by a touch of forest floor and subtle baking spice from judicious oak aging. On the palate, it exhibits a medium-bodied, linear frame defined by energetic acidity and silky, fine-grained tannins that lead to a clean, refreshing finish. Pair this delicate red with roasted quail with herbs, wild mushroom risotto, or classic Cantonese roast duck.
Winery Background
Maison Fang is an artisanal micro-négociant based in Beaune, dedicated to crafting extremely limited, small-batch Burgundy wines that express the pure essence of their terroirs. The house works closely with growers who practice sustainable viticulture, hand-harvesting grapes at optimal ripeness to ensure pristine fruit quality. In the cellar, the winemaking team employs a low-intervention, minimalist philosophy featuring gentle extraction and restrained oak usage, allowing the natural precision and linear character of each parcel to shine.
