Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot Echézeaux Grand Cru 2021 is a supremely rare red Burgundy from the famed Echézeaux terroir, expressing Pinot Noir with striking purity and finesse. The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was a challenging, low-yielding year, marked by severe spring frosts and a cool, damp growing season that produced wines with bright acidity, moderate alcohol and notable aromatic precision rather than sheer power, and Bizot’s Echézeaux reflects this with its emphasis on tension and transparency.

In the glass, it opens with finely etched aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry and cranberry, layered with violets, subtle redcurrant and a whisper of pomegranate. The palate is silky yet precise, medium in body with high, crystalline acidity and beautifully integrated, fine-grained tannins, carrying notes of pure red berries, delicate oak spice, clove and sweet baking spice into a long, persistent finish tinged with tea leaf, sous-bois and earthy minerality that will gain complexity with cellaring.
