Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot Vosne-Romanée 'Les Pâssioux' 2021 is a hauntingly pure Pinot Noir from a tiny parcel on the Vosne plain, capturing the village’s trademark perfume and finesse in micro-production quantities. The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was a challenging yet classical year, with severe spring frosts and a cool growing season that reduced yields but delivered lucid, finely etched wines with bright red fruit, moderate alcohol and vibrant acidity, offering excellent value for those who favour freshness over sheer power.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry mingle with violet, rose petal and subtle redcurrant, unfolding on the palate with a filigree, weightless texture, high, mouth-watering acidity and finely woven medium tannins. Discreet oak contributes notes of clove, sandalwood, light toast and a hint of cocoa and forest herbs, leading to a long, precise, mineral-inflected finish that is set to gain further complexity in bottle, developing nuances of sous-bois, truffle, dried rose and tea leaf. This elegant Vosne-Romanée is superb alongside roast quail, herb-crusted veal, mushroom risotto or a simple roast chicken with thyme.
