Caroline Morey Beaune 'Les Grèves' Rouge Premier Cru 2022
Vintage Character
The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was characterized by a warm, dry growing season, which produced wines with ripe fruit, vivid aromatics, and supple tannins. Caroline Morey Beaune 1er Cru Greves Rouge 2022 exemplifies the pedigree of its esteemed Premier Cru terroir, Greves, renowned for its gravelly, well-drained soils that impart finesse and mineral depth.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Awarded 92 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, this Pinot Noir opens with expressive aromas of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and a delicate hint of rose petal, complemented by subtle earthy undertones and savory spice. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced, displaying a silky texture, vibrant acidity, and fine-grained tannins, culminating in a persistent, mineral-driven finish. Its purity and precision make it a superb pairing with roasted duck breast, mushroom risotto, or classic French Comté cheese, while its structure also lends itself to braised pork belly with five-spice for those seeking an Asian-inspired dish.
Winery Background
Caroline Morey, daughter of renowned winemaker Jean-Marc Morey, established her own domaine in 2014, quickly earning recognition for her thoughtful approach to viticulture and winemaking. Her vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet and Beaune are farmed organically, with manual harvesting and minimal intervention in the cellar to preserve the integrity of each site. Caroline employs a restrained use of new oak, allowing the unique character of Greves to shine through in every bottle. Her commitment to expressing terroir and crafting wines with energy and finesse has positioned her among the leading voices of Burgundy’s new generation, celebrated for producing wines of clarity, distinction, and authentic regional character.
