Mahi Wines Sauvignon Blanc 'Boundary Farm' 2020
Vintage Character
The 2020 vintage in Marlborough delivered exceptional Sauvignon Blanc, thanks to a long, dry summer and cool nights that preserved freshness and aromatic intensity.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Awarded 91 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Mahi Boundary Farm Sauvignon Blanc 2020 stands out for its finesse and layered complexity. The nose reveals enticing aromas of passionfruit, fresh lime, and subtle elderflower, complemented by mineral undertones that speak to its single-vineyard Wairau Valley origins. On the palate, this wine is vibrant and textural, balancing lively citrus and tropical fruit flavors with a subtle saline edge and crisp acidity, culminating in a persistent, refreshing finish. Its zesty vibrancy makes it an excellent partner for Western seafood dishes such as oysters or grilled prawns, as well as a classic goat cheese salad, where the wine's brightness enhances delicate flavors and cuts through richer textures.
Winery Background
Founded in 2001 by renowned winemaker Brian Bicknell, Mahi has built a reputation for expressing Marlborough’s sub-regional diversity through precise single-vineyard wines. The Boundary Farm vineyard, located in the Wairau Valley, features clay-rich soils and is managed with a strong commitment to sustainability and minimal intervention. Mahi’s winemaking philosophy emphasizes gentle handling, wild fermentation, and patient aging, allowing each parcel to authentically reflect its site. This dedication to purity and site expression has earned Mahi international recognition as a leading producer in New Zealand’s dynamic wine landscape.
