Gaja Langhe 'Alteni di Brassica' 2023
Vintage Character
The 2023 vintage in the Langhe DOC brought forth Sauvignon Blancs of remarkable freshness and aromatic clarity, shaped by a temperate growing season marked by cool nights and moderate rainfall that preserved vibrant acidity and nuanced fruit character.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Awarded 91 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Gaja Alteni di Brassica 2023 stands out for its expressive bouquet of grapefruit, passionfruit, and elderflower, complemented by subtle hints of sage and mineral undertones. On the palate, it is lively and textured, offering crisp citrus flavors, delicate tropical nuances, and a touch of salinity that extends into a long, elegant finish. This versatile white pairs beautifully with Western dishes such as pan-seared scallops, goat cheese salad, or grilled asparagus, and also harmonizes with the gentle flavors of Cantonese steamed fish, making it an excellent choice for a range of dining occasions.
Winery Background
Founded in 1859, Gaja is one of Italy’s most esteemed wine estates, now under the guidance of the fourth generation, Angelo Gaja. Renowned for its innovative approach and unwavering commitment to quality, the estate combines traditional methods with modern techniques, emphasizing meticulous vineyard management and sustainable practices. Gaja’s dedication to expressing the unique terroir of the Langhe is evident in every bottle, and Alteni di Brassica exemplifies this philosophy by showcasing the elegance and vibrancy of Sauvignon Blanc in a region best known for its reds. Through careful craftsmanship and a pioneering spirit, Gaja continues to set the benchmark for excellence in Italian winemaking.
