Vintage Character Arillo in Terrabianca 'Bevobianco' Maremma Toscana DOC 2023 brings Chardonnay and Viognier together after a season of contrasting pressures in Alta Maremma. Frequent spring rain demanded attention to vineyard health, while repeated summer heat peaks pushed ripening forward. A warm, dry start to autumn then allowed harvest to take place at the right moment, with lower yields but healthy, high-quality fruit. The wine comes from Il Tesoro near Valpiana, where the two varieties create a blend of breadth and aromatic lift. Its balance reflects careful timing across a year that was warm overall but far from straightforward. In 2023, the dry early autumn enabled timely picking, turning a smaller healthy crop into expressive, balanced fruit.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing White flowers lead into banana and white peach, with a fine oak accent adding a little depth. The palate opens freshly, broadens through the middle and then returns to a persistent savoury finish. The fruit is generous without losing its outline, and the final impression is one of harmony rather than heaviness. Try it with grilled sea bream, a light chicken pasta, or a young sheep's cheese. These combinations support the wine's texture while leaving the floral and white-fruit aromas in focus; its fresh edge also makes it comfortable beside a gently creamy sauce.
Winery Background The grapes are softly pressed, clarified by cold settling and fermented separately by variety in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Fine-lees maturation in used barriques follows, developing texture without making new oak the dominant theme. Il Tesoro forms the Maremma side of Arillo in Terrabianca, the project developed by Adriana and Urs Burkard after their 2019 acquisition. 'Bevobianco' is its fresh, welcoming white expression, with Chardonnay supplying the main part of the blend and Viognier contributing fragrance. The result connects precise cellar handling with a coastal Tuscan setting and an intentionally balanced style.
