Sagona 'Fonfon' 2021 is a white Toscana IGT from Loro Ciuffenna, on the eastern Tuscan slopes beneath Pratomagno, made from Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia Bianca sourced from old vines at around 250 metres altitude. The 2021 vintage in this mountain-influenced corner of Arezzo was warm and dry, with cool nights at elevation helping to lock in freshness and aromatic definition. Extended skin maceration in concrete, spontaneous fermentation, no filtration, and minimal sulfites shape the wine's amber colour and textural depth.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
The bouquet shows golden apple, dried pear, chamomile, and beeswax, with underlying notes of toasted almond and citrus zest. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied and structured, with a fine tannic frame from skin contact, lively acidity, and a finish that lingers with saline minerality and dried herb. It drinks well alongside roast pork loin, white bean soup, aged sheep's cheese, or grilled swordfish with lemon.
