Vilafonté Series M 2022 is an icon red from Paarl in South Africa’s Coastal Region, a Bordeaux-inspired blend led by Malbec and Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon adding structure. The 2022 vintage is regarded as strong in the Cape: a moderate growing season and healthy fruit set delivered ripe tannins, vivid fruit definition, and freshness. Its character is shaped by Paarl’s warm days, cooling maritime influence from the wider Coastal Region, and the estate’s ancient Vilafontes soils, prized for low vigor and natural concentration.

The wine opens with black cherry, plum, blueberry and violet, followed by darker notes of cocoa, cedar, graphite and sweet spice. On the palate it is supple yet firmly built, with polished tannins, juicy dark fruit at the core, and a long, savoury finish that balances richness with lift. It pairs beautifully with herb-crusted lamb rack, grilled ribeye with rosemary potatoes, or mushroom risotto.
