Domaine Thibert Père et Fils Pouilly-Fuissé “Vignes Blanches” 2016 is a single-parcel Chardonnay from limestone-rich soils in the Mâconnais that delivers a precise yet generous expression of southern Burgundy. The 2016 vintage in southern Burgundy was challenging, with episodes of spring frost followed by a warm, sunny growing season, ultimately leading to reduced yields but healthy, nicely ripe grapes that produced concentrated wines with good freshness.

Expect aromas of ripe lemon, golden apple, pear, white peach and delicate white flowers, layered with creamy lees notes, fresh bread dough, buttered toast and a touch of vanilla and sweet spice from judicious oak élevage. On the palate it is medium to full bodied with a supple, silky texture, medium-high acidity and a long, nut-tinged finish where hints of hazelnut, almond, honeycomb and wet stone can emerge as it develops in bottle. Its depth and structure make it a versatile partner at the table, pairing beautifully with roast chicken with thyme, seared scallops, buttery lobster or a classic Comté tart.
