Vintage Character Mihope Winery 'Enjoy' Marselan 2022 comes from a season that began hot and dry before settling into more balanced conditions. Mihope reported steadier temperatures and moderate rainfall later in the cycle, with budbreak, flowering and colour change slightly ahead of the previous year. Healthy fruit and useful acidity at harvest gave the estate a favourable starting point for this aromatic red. Marselan leads the blend, supported by Syrah and a small amount of Viognier. The combination offers dark-fruit depth with a floral edge, while the season's retained freshness helps the palate remain composed rather than simply broad or heavy.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing Violet, blackberry and blueberry are joined by a suggestion of prune, followed by vanilla and tobacco. The palate feels rounded, with fine tannins and an even balance between ripe fruit and freshness. A long finish carries the fruit and floral details together, giving the wine continuity without an abrupt change of character. Roast duck, grilled lamb or a mushroom and barley risotto make appealing partners. Each brings savoury substance, while the wine's floral lift and supple texture help keep the pairing from feeling too dense.
Winery Background Mihope began developing its Ningxia estate in 2011, combining modern cellar facilities with precision irrigation suited to the eastern Helan foothills. For this Marselan, the team used crop thinning and regular tasting in the vineyard to guide decisions. Gentle extraction in conical vessels was followed by twelve months of maturation, divided between new oak, used barrels and a small stainless-steel portion. That measured approach allows fruit and texture to remain central. The blend is led by eighty-five percent Marselan, with ten percent Syrah and five percent Viognier adding further structure and aromatic interest.
