September Helan "Lost Vineyard" Syrah 2021 comes from the Helan Mountain East Foothill of Ningxia, one of China’s most important fine-wine regions. The 2021 vintage benefited from Ningxia’s dry continental climate, where strong sunshine and large day-night temperature shifts helped Syrah ripen fully while preserving freshness, making it a particularly appealing vintage for clarity of fruit and structure. This eastern foothill zone is known for well-drained gravelly and sandy soils, low rainfall, and high altitude vineyard conditions that encourage small berries, concentrated flavor, and the lifted spice that suits Syrah especially well.

In the glass, this wine shows ripe blackberry, plum, black cherry and violet, backed by classic Syrah notes of cracked black pepper and a savory herbal edge. The palate is dry and medium- to full-bodied, with a smooth but firm texture, medium acidity, and medium-high tannins that frame dark fruit, subtle cocoa, sweet spice, and a touch of earth. Oak is present but measured, adding shape rather than dominance, and the finish carries both juicy fruit and peppery persistence.
