Vintage Character The Domaine des Tourelles Syrah du Liban 2020 from Lebanon's historic Bekaa Valley showcases the remarkable potential of high-altitude viticulture. The 2020 vintage experienced a hot, dry summer that resulted in lower yields of highly concentrated grapes, imparting incredible depth and structural intensity to the vintage. Sourced from a single vineyard situated 1,050 meters above sea level, the vines thrive in iron-rich clay-limestone soils, where hot days and cool mountain nights preserve refreshing natural acidity.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing This powerful red displays a deep purple hue, opening with intense aromas of ripe blackberries, black pepper, leather, and exotic spices. On the palate, its full-bodied texture is framed by fine-grained tannins and a vibrant line of acidity, leading to a long, savory finish accented by hints of dark cocoa and wild herbs. Pair this rich, complex Syrah with roasted rosemary-crusted rack of lamb, a classic grilled ribeye steak, or a slow-cooked Chinese braised beef brisket.
Winery Background Established in 1868, Domaine des Tourelles is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in the Middle East. Under the guidance of winemaker Faouzi Issa, who trained at Château Margaux and René Rostaing, the estate champions minimal-intervention winemaking. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented using only indigenous yeasts in the estate's historic concrete vats, followed by aging in oak barrels to craft a truly authentic, world-class expression of Lebanese terroir.
