Thibaud Capellaro 'Terra' 2022 Vin de France showcases the vibrant, modern spirit of low-intervention Northern Rhône Syrah. The 2022 vintage experienced a scorching, arid summer relieved by late August rains, resulting in beautifully ripe, concentrated fruit with preserved natural acidity and sleek tannins. Sourced from organically farmed vines rooted in steep granitic and clay-limestone soils along rugged hillside terraces, this cuvée derives its soul from the distinct stony minerality of its terroir.

On the nose, the wine opens with lifted aromas of crushed blackberries, dark cherries, wild violets, and cracked black pepper underpinned by subtle graphite notes. The palate is juicy and medium-bodied, blending vibrant black fruit flavors with savory wild herbs, supple, fine-grained tannins, and a precise, mineral-accented finish. This expressive, energetic Syrah pairs wonderfully with herb-crusted roasted lamb chops, pan-seared duck breast with cherry jus, or classic Beijing roast duck.

Based in Ampuis, young vigneron Thibaud Capellaro represents a dynamic new generation in the Rhône Valley, crafting authentic, natural wines through a micro-négociant project. Capellaro sources organically farmed grapes and revives neglected hillside plots, prioritizing natural balance over heavy extraction. In the cellar, he employs whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts and ages the wine in large demi-muids, bottling unfiltered with zero added sulfur to craft pure, highly sought-after micro-allocations.
