2022 Beyond Time Marselan comes from the Helan Mountain East Foothill of Ningxia, China’s most established fine-wine region and a leading source for serious Marselan. The vintage delivered ripe fruit under the area’s sunny, dry growing season, while the large diurnal shift helped preserve freshness, giving the wine both concentration and lift. This distinctive desert-edge terroir, shaped by abundant light, scarce rainfall and well-drained soils along the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains, is especially well suited to producing deeply colored reds with aromatic clarity and firm structure.

In the glass, this dry red shows expressive notes of black cherry, plum and cassis, layered with violet, a hint of sweet spice and a touch of cocoa. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with juicy dark fruit, medium-high acidity and supple yet present tannins that carry the wine through a polished, gently savory finish. Marselan’s signature combination of floral lift and dark-fruited depth is on full display here. Pair it with rosemary lamb chops, duck breast with cherry sauce, or cumin beef skewers.
