Vintage Character Champagne Delamotte Brut NV expresses the house’s non-vintage balance through a Chardonnay-led blend and patient lees maturation. Chardonnay gives the wine its fresh, precise backbone, Pinot Noir adds depth and fruit, and a small portion of Meunier completes the aromatic density. Thirty-six months on the lees soften the texture before a light dosage rounds the final balance. Its character is consistent rather than tied to one harvest: brightness and roundness meet in a clean, fruity finish, with fine bubbles adding a creamy dimension to the restrained, elegant style.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing Citrus, white flowers and lemon rind form a pure, lifted bouquet, followed by gentle brioche and almond nuances. The palate is medium-bodied and refreshing, with delicate effervescence and a smoothly rounded centre. The house’s blend is 60% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 5% Meunier. Enjoy it around 8°C in a tulip-shaped glass, allowing a little warmth to reveal its aromatic detail. Oysters, steamed crab and cheese gougères offer attractive matches. The magnum makes a generous centrepiece for sharing, while a cool, dark cellar can allow subtle further development before drinking.
Winery Background François Delamotte founded the house in Reims in 1760. Marie-Louise de Nonancourt gave it a new home in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in 1927, placing Chardonnay and the Côte des Blancs at the centre of its identity. Delamotte joined the Laurent-Perrier group in 1988, the same year that neighbouring Salon became its sister house. Chardonnay from chalk-rich villages including Le Mesnil, Avize, Oger and Cramant provides the blend’s line, while Pinot Noir from Tours-sur-Marne, Bouzy and Ambonnay adds fruit and breadth. This combination of origins and measured maturation gives Brut its welcoming yet composed personality.
