Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte 'Réserve Exclusive' Brut (Metal Box) NV
Vintage Character
Non-vintage wines are blended from more than one harvest, so the house can keep its style steady from one release to the next. Their character comes less from a single growing season than from blending choices, reserve wines and the dosage at disgorgement. 'Réserve Exclusive' Brut from Nicolas Feuillatte applies that approach. Réserve Exclusive Brut is blended from 40 per cent Pinot Noir, 40 per cent Meunier and 20 per cent Chardonnay.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Green apple, lemon and white flowers lead, with brioche and a hint of toast. It is Brut in style, with medium body and high acidity. The mousse is fine, with bright acidity, fruit-led depth and a clean, dry finish. Time on lees adds bread-crust and light hazelnut character. Dim sum, fried chicken and sashimi make easy partners. Serve at about 6 to 8 degrees Celsius in a tulip-shaped or white wine glass. It is presented in an original gift box. It is presented in a metal gift box. Champagne blends rest on Pinot Noir for structure, Chardonnay for finesse and Meunier for fruit. It also makes a fine aperitif, and the acidity cuts through fried food and richer dishes.
Winery Background
Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte was created in 1976 and is the brand of the Centre Vinicole de la Champagne, a union of growers' cooperatives founded in 1972 by Henri Macquart. The union is based in Chouilly, overlooking Épernay, and brings together more than 80 member cooperatives. Its aim was to give winegrowers a way to guarantee the sale of their grapes after a surplus harvest. The cellar team is listed under Guillaume Roffiaen. The house says the Pinot Noir adds roundness and structure, the Meunier fruitiness and softness, and the Chardonnay elegance and finesse. Its Palmes d'Or prestige cuvée was first made in 1985, and Jean-Pierre Vincent was the house's first chef de cave.
