Vintage Character The 2024 Roserock Pinot Noir comes from the Roserock estate in Eola-Amity Hills, in Oregon's Willamette Valley. A cool spring in Oregon was followed by a warmer growing season in 2024, a pattern that gives Pinot Noir both ripe fruit and lasting freshness. Roserock's volcanic soils and the cooling Pacific air that reaches the Eola-Amity Hills help keep acidity bright. The wine is a selection from the estate's Pinot Noir blocks, with fruit handpicked and sorted before individual fermentation, and so it reflects the whole estate rather than a single vineyard.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing The nose shows black cherry, raspberry and violet, with accents of dried herbs, coffee and stony earth. The palate is bright and supple, carrying strawberry, plum and restrained spice into a long finish, with medium tannins. James Suckling scored it 95, noting lavender, rose, pomegranate and wild berries, and Wine Spectator gave it 94, finding raspberry, blueberry, orange peel and cinnamon. Serve it lightly cooled with roast duck, mushroom dishes or simply prepared poultry, where its fruit and acidity stay clear rather than being overwhelmed by a heavy sauce. It will also reward a few years in the cellar.
Winery Background Roserock is the Drouhin family's second Oregon estate, bought in 2013 and set in Eola-Amity Hills, separate from Domaine Drouhin Oregon's home in the Dundee Hills, where the family founded its winery in 1987. Véronique Drouhin makes the wine and emphasises elegance and refinement, the Burgundian ideal the family has followed for generations. At 14.1% alcohol and with medium tannins, the 2024 is youthful and structured, with room to develop in bottle. This is the Roserock Pinot Noir cuvée, distinct from the Zéphirine selection and from the estate's Chardonnays.
