Lansai Winery Chardonnay 'Sailongteng' 2019
Vintage Character
The 2019 Sailongteng Chardonnay from Lansai Winery offers a compelling glimpse into the emerging quality of Chinese Chardonnay, sourced from the high-altitude vineyards of Yunnan. The 2019 vintage in Yunnan was characterized by warm, sunny conditions, which promoted full ripening and resulted in wines with expressive fruit and well-balanced acidity. This Chardonnay opens with inviting aromas of ripe peach, green apple, and delicate citrus blossom, complemented by subtle notes of toasted almond and gentle oak.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
On the palate, it is vibrant and well-structured, featuring a creamy texture that frames flavors of juicy stone fruit, lemon zest, and a touch of minerality, leading to a refreshing, lingering finish. Ideal pairings include lightly grilled sea bass, roast chicken with herbs, or a selection of mild French cheeses such as Brie, making this wine a versatile choice for a range of Western and Asian-inspired dishes.
Winery Background
Lansai Winery has established itself as a pioneering force in Yunnan’s burgeoning wine scene, dedicated to expressing the region’s unique terroir through careful vineyard management and a commitment to sustainability. The winery employs a combination of modern winemaking techniques and respect for the local environment, focusing on low yields, hand harvesting, and gentle fruit handling to preserve the purity and character of each grape. This philosophy allows Lansai to craft wines that authentically reflect both the land and the vision of its team. The Sailongteng Chardonnay stands as a testament to the potential of Chinese fine wine, showcasing innovation, quality, and a distinct sense of place.
