Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne-Romanée 2012 is a village-level Pinot Noir drawn from several small parcels on the gentle slopes of Vosne-Romanée, uniting sites such as Les Chaladins, La Colombière, Le Pré de la Folie and Au-dessus de la Rivière to give a complete picture of this celebrated appellation. The 2012 vintage in the Côte de Nuits was marked by a challenging growing season with episodes of frost, hail and difficult flowering, resulting in low yields but also in particularly concentrated, intense fruit that many growers transformed into wines of notable depth and purity. In the glass, this Vosne charms with pure red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry wrapped in violets, rose petal and a subtle cranberry edge, layered with fine oak spice, clove, cinnamon and forest herbs. The palate is medium-bodied yet supple, with silky tannins, vibrant, medium-high acidity and a graceful, persistent finish that carries notes of sous-bois, truffle, leather, sweet tobacco and earthy minerality. Its elegance and precision make it a superb partner for roast duck with cherries, herb-crusted rack of lamb or a simple plate of mushroom ravioli finished with brown butter and sage, offering a refined, ageworthy expression of Vosne-Romanée made in relatively modest quantities. Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg is a revered family estate in Vosne-Romanée, shaped by the union of the Mugneret and Gibourg families and now guided by sisters Marie-Andrée and Marie-Christine Mugneret, who took over after the passing of their father Georges.
