Vintage Character 2022 followed the frost-hit 2021 and was a generous year, with a hot, dry summer and an early harvest that began before the end of August for some growers. Whites are sunny and supple, and the vintage is regarded as one of the more approachable of recent years. In 2022, the Bourgogne Aligoté from Domaine Henri et Gilles Remoriquet reflects that season. Aligoté is Burgundy's second white grape and gives a tart, refreshing wine. The Bourgogne level covers the regional appellation, which is the broadest in the hierarchy.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing Lemon, green apple and white flowers lead, with a light herbal note. It is dry and medium-bodied, with high acidity. The palate is tart and light, with lively acidity and a refreshing finish. It is best enjoyed young. Gougères, oysters and fried seafood are classic partners. Serve at about 8 to 10 degrees Celsius, and avoid over-chilling so the aromas can open. Aligoté is Burgundy's second white grape and is kept for lively, tart wines. It also suits a glass at the start of a meal, since the acidity wakes up the palate. A white with this profile shows best slightly cool rather than ice-cold, when its texture and mineral detail come through.
Winery Background Domaine Henri et Gilles Remoriquet is a family estate of about 10 hectares in Nuits-Saint-Georges, and the domaine traces its roots to the monks of the abbey of Cîteaux. Gilles Remoriquet, a graduate oenologist of the University of Dijon, took over the family estate in 1979, with his father Henri at his side. The wines are made in quiet cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges, and the domaine is a historic reference for the appellation. The family has made wine in Nuits-Saint-Georges across four generations.
