Domaine Paul Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet ‘La Romanée’ Premier Cru 2022 is a finely etched white Burgundy from one of Chassagne’s most coveted limestone slopes, delivering a poised, mineral-driven expression of Chardonnay. The 2022 vintage in Burgundy is generally regarded as very good, shaped by a warm, relatively dry growing season that produced ripe, concentrated fruit yet, in the best addresses, retained freshness and balance in the wines.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
In the glass, it opens with precise aromas of lemon zest, ripe pear, white peach, green apple and white flowers, layered over a subtle chalky minerality. The palate is focused and energetic yet textured, combining bright acidity with a silky, medium-full body, fine lees creaminess, notes of brioche and toasted hazelnut, and discreet vanilla and spice from well-judged oak. Hints of honey, almond, nougat and wet stone add depth, leading to a long, finely saline finish that suggests excellent cellaring potential. This bottling is an outstanding match for turbot in beurre blanc, roast chicken with morels, seared scallops, or a simple plate of aged Comté, and limited production from a small 0.42-hectare parcel makes it a rare and highly sought-after find for lovers of haute-couture white Burgundy.
