Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée 'Les Suchots' Premier Cru 2018 comes from one of the most coveted climats in Vosne, lying between the illustrious grands crus of Richebourg, Echézeaux and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, and is produced in notably small quantities from a modest holding within the vineyard. The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was a warm, largely dry and sunny year that is widely regarded as very good, delivering ripe, generous Pinot Noir with plenty of concentration and supple structure, a style that flatters the naturally sensual, aromatic character of Les Suchots.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Aromas of red and black cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry mingle with violet, rose petal and a touch of cranberry and red plum, layered over fine oak spice, clove, vanilla, cinnamon, subtle toast, herbs and a hint of cocoa and earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied with silky yet present tannins, vibrant, medium-high acidity and a long, perfumed finish that already hints at developing notes of sous-bois, truffle, dried rose, leather and tobacco. This refined, complex Vosne 1er Cru pairs beautifully with roast duck breast, veal chop with morels, or a simple roast chicken with thyme, and is also excellent alongside a ripened Comté or aged Gruyère.
