Gabrio Bini Sicilia 'Fanino' 2023 is a dry red from Pantelleria, the wind-battered volcanic island off Sicily where old bush vines grow in black lava-derived sands under intense sun and constant maritime influence. The 2023 vintage in Sicily was more challenging than uniformly great, with heat and disease pressure reducing yields, yet in sites tempered by sea breezes it produced wines of vivid energy and distinctive savor, giving this bottling particular character and rarity. Pantelleria’s extreme conditions, traditional alberello pantesco training, and mineral-rich volcanic soils shape a wine that feels both Mediterranean and strikingly saline.
