Montetino 'Le Marie' Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2024
Vintage Character
From the rugged, sun-drenched hillsides of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC, the 2024 Montetino 'Le Marie' Montepulciano d'Abruzzo captures the vibrant energy of its unique terroir. A warm, dry growing season in 2024 yielded grapes with excellent concentration and ripe tannins, offering immediate charm and outstanding value for everyday enjoyment. The vineyards benefit from clay-limestone soils and a microclimate shaped by the Adriatic Sea to the east and the Apennine Mountains to the west, fostering optimal daytime warmth and cool nights that preserve natural acidity.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
On the nose, this youthful red reveals an expressive bouquet of dark cherries, wild blackberries, and a subtle hint of dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, showing a supple texture, soft tannins, and a clean, refreshing finish driven by bright red-fruit notes. Pair this versatile red with a savory wild boar ragù over pappardelle, classic wood-fired pizza, or Cantonese-style roasted char siu pork.
Winery Background
Montetino is dedicated to crafting expressive, terroir-driven wines that reflect the authentic spirit of Abruzzo. Their viticultural philosophy emphasizes sustainable vineyard management and hand-harvesting to ensure only high-quality fruit enters the winery. By employing temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation and avoiding heavy oak influence, the estate preserves the grape's natural purity, creating a clean, modern, and highly accessible expression of the region.
