Vintage Character Bruno Giacosa’s Barolo Collina Rionda DOCG is a benchmark expression of Nebbiolo from the famed Vigna Rionda vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing In the glass, it reveals extraordinary aromatic layers: rose petals, violets, and dried cherries mingle with tar, truffle, licorice, and earthy spice. With maturity, the bouquet deepens into leather, tobacco, dried herbs, and forest floor, offering a complex and evolving profile. On the palate, Collina Rionda is both powerful and refined. It delivers ripe red berries, plum, and hints of balsamic, supported by firm tannins and vibrant acidity. The texture is silky yet structured, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish that reflects the terroir of Serralunga.
Winery Background Its depth and elegance make it an outstanding partner for food. Traditional pairings include braised beef, lamb shank, game dishes, and mature cheeses such as Parmigiano-Reggiano or Castelmagno. It also harmonizes beautifully with Chinese cuisine: Peking duck, braised pork belly (hong shao rou), or soy-braised beef short ribs complement its richness, while mushroom hotpot or mapo tofu echo its earthy and spicy undertones. Bruno Giacosa (1929–2018), known as the “Genius of Neive,” pioneered single-vineyard Barolo and Barbaresco. Today, his daughter Bruna continues his legacy of precision and timeless craftsmanship at Azienda Agricola Falletto.
