Domenico Clerico Langhe Nebbiolo 'Capisme e' 2024
Vintage Character
Langhe DOC Nebbiolo Capisme-E 2024 from Domenico Clerico captures the youthful vibrancy and purity of Nebbiolo grown in the rolling hills of Piedmont, Italy. The 2024 vintage benefited from a relatively mild winter followed by a warm, balanced growing season, which produced wines with fresh aromatics, bright fruit, and supple tannins—a hallmark of value-driven Nebbiolo from this region.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairing
Awarded 90 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Capisme-E opens with inviting aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries, and a subtle hint of rose petals, complemented by delicate notes of crushed herbs and spice. On the palate, lively acidity and refined tannins frame flavors of cranberry, raspberry, and a touch of earthiness, leading to a clean, persistent finish. This approachable style pairs beautifully with classic Italian fare such as mushroom risotto, and for a contemporary twist, its freshness makes it a fine match for Peking duck. A wedge of Taleggio cheese will further highlight its savory notes and elegant structure.
Winery Background
Domenico Clerico is a renowned producer in the Langhe region, recognized for his dedication to expressing the unique character of Piedmont’s terroir through Nebbiolo. Established in the late 1970s, the estate has become synonymous with innovation and quality, employing low-yield vineyard practices and modern winemaking techniques to ensure purity and vibrancy in each bottling. The vineyards are situated on clay-limestone soils at varying altitudes, contributing to the complexity and freshness of the wines. Clerico’s philosophy balances respect for tradition with a forward-thinking approach, resulting in wines that authentically reflect their origin. Capisme-E serves as an accessible introduction to the estate’s commitment to excellence, offering a genuine taste of Langhe Nebbiolo crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
